Long Distance Birthday Wishes
Birthdays are when distance is felt most, which is why these messages need to do a bit more work than usual. The best ones acknowledge the gap honestly and then close it — with a plan, a memory, or something practical arriving on the day. All ten below leave space for that.

Celebrating From Far Away
Time the message properly. Send it in their morning, not yours. A wish arriving at 4am reads as an afterthought even when it isn't.
Send something that arrives on the day. Food delivery to their address is the most reliable remote gift there is — a cake, a takeaway, coffee for the morning.
Book the call in advance. Spontaneous calls across time zones usually fail. Agree a slot a few days before.
Send something visual. A name cake image or a printed card posted a week early both land better than a text alone.

Questions
Video call or phone call?
Video if you can — on birthdays, seeing someone's face is most of the point.
What if we're a full twelve hours apart?
Send the message at their midnight, then call whenever suits. The message being first is what counts.
